Wikilator functions as a translation application leveraging Wikipedia(TM) to facilitate term lookup and translation. It proves particularly useful for technical terminology or phrases that conventional dictionaries may not recognize, offering contextual information to enhance understanding.
Additionally, Wikilator serves as a comprehensive cross-language Wikipedia browser, enabling access to articles in over 270 languages. This includes several languages that are traditionally unsupported on iOS platforms.

Designed with simplicity in mind, Wikilator allows users to input a search term, select from suggestion lists, and receive immediate translations with accompanying descriptions in both the source and target languages when available. This streamlined process facilitates quick and accurate information retrieval.

The app supports more than 270 languages, featuring a convenient interface that highlights frequently used languages. Users can also browse and select languages by continent categories, which simplifies navigation through extensive options without the need for exhaustive searching.

Wikilator includes proprietary font support for scripts not natively handled by iOS, such as Khmer, Burmese, Amharic, and Aramaic. This ensures proper rendering of Wikipedia pages in these languages on iPhone or iPad devices. Moreover, the bi-lingual interaction design allows users to input search terms in non-supported languages, even if particular keyboards are unavailable or unfamiliar.
